Prologue

Ramblings, Ravings, Musings and Mutterings of a charlatan....

Regarding

The Charlatan. A Writer. A Clown. Sometimes a Barnstormer. Vaudevillian. Pirate. I'm a idealistic cynic, silent writer, trapped traveller... God help me, I'm complusively paradoxical.

BLT's latest work is out - available at various internet places.

Countdown it's called, if you didn't know already, which would be surprising, since you were probably involved in its production.

Well, BLT has forced me to review it on pain of death, since I feel this strange urge to review the movie, i shall.

Since he started in this business, BLT's films have always been improving, in terms of quality. Countdown is no exception, definitely his best work so far. It combines both intriguing storyline and mindless violence, the hallmarks of a truly great hollywood blockbuster. In addition to this, there's a surprising new element - actors who can actually act! Egads! Its a bold new concept, but i daresay it may just take off! But seriously folks -- Kiat, Elsa and Shawn really did a good job in this film. Especially Kiat, who is to the best of my knowledge new to this sort of stuff.

Their talents added to the superb filming that comes from 3-4 good cameramen(with no professional training!), and BLT's obsessive drive for perfection while editing. I heard that some parts of the film were rushed due to time constraints in the filming process, but honestly, I don't really see it. It was well filmed and definitely well-edited. It even has a bit of humor, with various in-jokes scattered here and there. More importantly,it still keeps BLT's trademark SWAT scenes - which are particularly interesting when you consider this would be the last time they would ever be seen - since all the vests have went their separate ways.

The script - another classic BLT vendetta-ish affair had sufficient twists and turns - at least i think it did. A bit hard being objective about something when you are involved in it.

Moving right along now..

All in all, Countdown was a pretty good little short film, uniquely original, since it had all the features of a 120 minute long action-block-buster, except for the actual time, and the million dollar budget.
