I just watched this very interesting video that appeared on my desktop this morning. I don’t know how it got there, or what the heck it was. Which was good because I like surprises. When I played it I was confronted by perhaps the most incredible realization of that day.
SESAME STREET IS GREAT! The video was called ‘C is for Cookie’ and the premise was that on of those anime characters from either Satanic Vampire 666 or 666 Vampirism Satan, you know, the one they show at daycare centers? Anyhow, the guy (or
vampire) was waving his sword around and singing that classic Cookie Monster song. It was one of that cut-appropriate-and-dub-them-in-a-humorous-fashion.
But it got me thinking. Damn, that song is catchy. I mean, any kid who listens to that song is definitely going to remember what ‘C’ is. I mean, when I was trying to remember ‘C’, I remember I used to compare it to Sea. Then I would realize that another word for Sea is Ocean. And then…. O (h)! C (eeee)! As you can see, I liked to over complicate things.
But guess what? They changed it! Just look at this
article by the similarly enraged Jonah Goldberg. I mean, WTF? That was a freaking classic! It was what ol' CM was! Its just like the way Kenny isnt dying anymore.

Oh yeah…. Did you notice where anime and manga videos are located at a shop? I know that they’re not really as popular as ‘real people’ movies, but I doubt that’s a reason to put them in the children’s section, right in-between
‘Bambi’ and the ‘
Barney and Friends’. I mean its okay for some of the more, shall we say, moronic, soulless product placement series…. I can even understand if they put
Spirited Awaythere, even though its a terrible crime in itself to compare the genius that is Hayao Miyazaki to the latest direct-to-video Disney movie.I mean, Spirited Away is good enough to 'fit in' in the foreign films section! But the problem lies with movies like the NC-16
Akira and the M-18
Ghosts in the Shell. Yes, its difficult for kids to borrow said videos, and if parents are to blame if they’re stupid enough to pick out
Hellsing for the weekend. But what about us! I mean, I don’t want to be seen digging through the seasons of
Tellitubbies just to get at ‘
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie’.

I know that there are people who get offended very easily and prowl blogs because they like to find people who offend them, and complain. Fortunately, I’m not popular enough to attract that sort of attention. Yay! Three cheers or mediocrity!
